Ferrero began as a small family-run pastry shop in Alba, Italy. Today, we are still family-owned, and have grown to be the home of some of the world's best loved brands, including Kinder, Nutella, Ferrero Rocher, and Tic Tac. What has never changed is our respect for people and the planet, our passion for creativity and excellence, and for bringing moments of joy through delicious products.
Quality in our heritage
Pensare diverso – thinking differently – is rooted in our history. Our founder Pietro Ferrero, known as "the scientist" by his friends due to his love of experimenting, drove innovation with his boundless creativity. And his brother Giovanni's commercial acumen established a nationwide sales network. Their collaboration laid the groundwork for Pietro's son, Michele, to transform the business into the globally recognised Ferrero brand known for its quality and innovation in confectionery. Today, Ferrero continues its innovation journey and expansion into new markets under the leadership of Michele's son, Giovanni.
Ferrero has more than 47,000 passionate employees globally, but our culture remains firmly rooted in our heritage of family values and humble beginnings in Alba.
Quality in our ingredients
At the heart of our approach to sourcing our ingredients is ‘sacco conosciuto’, which translates as ‘knowing what’s in the bag’.
This commitment to knowing every single detail about our raw materials has been in our DNA since Ferrero was founded. A focus on selecting quality ingredients, sourced from carefully selected suppliers and farmers, continues to drive our commitment and care for creating our products.
A key first step in our responsible sourcing approach is the ability to trace our raw materials back to their origin. We use innovative technologies to support our traceability commitments, including supply chain sustainability tracking software, Sourcemap.
98% of the cocoa we use is traceable to farmer groups and we are working towards greater traceability, using technology to map farms and sourcing areas.

Pietro Ferrero built the company around the pillars of innovation and creativity, instilling a commitment to continually pushing boundaries and delivering only the best possible products for consumers. Today that commitment remains, fuelled by our passion for creativity, use of cutting-edge technologies and the work we do with partners to develop new products which delight our customers.
We work with over 100 partners on an accelerated sustainability plan which continuously explores sustainable packaging alternatives.
We have dedicated research and technology teams at our centres of innovation in Chicago, Singapore, Italy and Luxembourg. These innovation centres reflect Ferrero’s rich heritage and foster the creativity and culture that Ferrero is known for around the world. They help us create high-quality, innovative products that ensure we can continue to surprise and delight consumers.
