Ferrero, a family company
Since opening our doors as a small pastry shop in Piedmont, Italy, in 1946, family has truly defined the Ferrero name.
As a brand, we’ve come a long way from that pastry shop. Pietro’s love of creativity and experimentation would become the inspiration for his son, Michele Ferrero, to launch the company we are today, which never stops innovating. Now in our third generation with Giovanni Ferrero at the helm, we’re one of the world's largest sweet-packaged food companies with more than 35 iconic brands across over 170 countries – and with a constant eye on innovation.
Community-focused
Even with this growth, Ferrero is still a family-owned company. Now in its third generation, the continued focus on community is intrinsic to our core values and our culture.
Right from our outset, Ferrero was dedicated to doing well by its people. When we opened the Ferrero factory in Alba in 1946, Ferrero family wanted it also to be an opportunity for the local community. Many of our factory workers had (and still have) second jobs in the country, running farms and vineyards – some of which produce the iconic Ferrero hazelnuts. To ensure they could continue this work as well as working for Ferrero, the company not only encouraged and enabled seasonal work, but also established a free bus service to take people in the nearby countryside to and from the factory for their shifts.

Still today, our company practices are based on respect for our people. It’s a philosophy which has inspired, and still inspires, our engagement in social responsibility. The long-term health and wellbeing of our employees, their loved ones, and our wider community is incredibly important to us.

Over almost eighty years, several generations of people have worked for Ferrero, and we’re proud to boast experience of long-term employment like few other companies can.
The Ferrero Foundation
We also respect the longevity of our relationship with our employees with initiatives such as the Ferrero Foundation. The Ferrero Foundation was introduced by the Ferrero family in 1983. Designed to create an environmental and emotional framework of security and solidarity, it offers Ferrero Seniors from the Alba region who have completed 25 or more years of service a programme of creative, recreational, and social activities; as well as several social and healthcare services.
The idea of the Foundation and the sense of its work can be found in its motto: Work Create Donate. As well as looking after Ferrero Seniors and their families, the Foundation encourages them to give back to the Alba community by willingly and freely gifting skills, experience, time, and projects.
