OUR HERITAGE ROOTED IN ALBA, ITALY – WHERE IT ALL BEGAN.
Alba is a picturesque town in Italy’s north-western Piedmont region, known around the world for its gastronomic delights including the high-quality hazelnuts of the Tonda Gentile delle Langhe variety, Barolo and Barbaresco wines, and white truffle.
In the post war period, the local community worked incredibly hard to reconstruct the area and build a better life for the people that lived there. The area was able to reinvent itself, with Michele Ferrero and his father Pietro before him, two personalities whose vision, determination, and creativity helped shape the destiny of the city and region.
These entrepreneurs focused on the potential of the land, looking for ways to turn simple products of the earth - in our case, hazelnuts - into ambassadors for the region, transforming them into a source of pride and riches for an entire community. Their work helped Alba to survive and thrive after the war - as Ferrero grew, it helped attract people to come and work in Alba from all over the country.
Ferrero continues to grow today with a presence in more than 170 countries. Our expertise in and passion for iconic products continue to inspire us to innovate and bring new brands into our family, including Thorntons, Fannie May, Butterfinger, Eat Natural, and ice cream producer Wells Enterprises.
Today, Ferrero has more than 47,000 passionate employees globally but our culture remains firmly rooted in our heritage of family values and humble beginnings in Alba.
Ferrero, Quality at heart.
